What is Human Design? A gentle, complete introduction

Where Human Design comes from

Human Design is a synthesis. It weaves together four older systems — Western astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra model, and the Kabbalist Tree of Life — and overlays them onto a single diagram called the bodygraph. What your chart actually shows

Your bodygraph maps a handful of things that, together, describe how you're built to make decisions and spend energy:

• Type — the broad strategy your energy follows. There are five: Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor and Reflector.
• Authority — your body's most reliable way of reaching a yes or no, underneath the chatter of the mind.
• Centers — nine hubs, each either defined (consistent) or open (receptive and variable).
• Channels and gates — the specific wiring that connects your centers.

How to read your own chart

You need three things: your birth date, your birth time (as exact as you can find — a birth certificate is ideal), and your birth city. The time matters, because your chart can shift within a couple of hours.
